Kyo feels obligated to take over the family business, handcrafted Pottery. She longs for the freedom to choose her ideal career, an idol, where she can indulge in fashion, music, and fame. She never had the courage to take it for herself, and now she's aged out of it altogether, though she still releases music on the side.

Kyo and Taro first met at an arcade, where she was searching for her brother Toshi. After winning a long series of games and being rewarded with a giant Kuromi, Taro glanced around for the nearest girl that looked like she'd appreciate it. After a quick once-over at Kyo's gothic lolita style, he approached Kyo and asked her if she wanted it, while simultaneously making a faux pas. Kyo was unimpressed at first, but was eventually won over by Taro's himbo charm. After exchanging numbers, Taro persisted in texting her about the daily happenings in his life. He took Kyo on numerous dates, and over time gifted her an entire gothic lolita wardrobe, complete with accessories. Taro encouraged her to live her best life as well, to wear the type of clothing she enjoys and dress in whatever way most pleases her. Kyo fell hard for Taro, and this jump-started her obsessive behavior in him.

Kyo has been protective of Toshi since he was introduced to her by their mother as a baby. After their mother died, she took over a more maternal role with Toshi. He was a sickly child, oftentimes needing to be coddled throughout the majority of his childhood. It was only as he aged that he eventually grew strong that he chafed under her stifling concern. Toshi is both her closest confidant, and someone she still sometimes forgets is old enough to look after himself. It's not until Taro becomes a part of Kyo's life that she feels comfortable reliquishing her death grip on Toshi. He flowers as he gains his rightful independence, blossoming into a confidant young man with an intelligence to rival her own.

Kyo is the last member to join Strife Corps, a metal band with a huge following. It was started by one of Taro's closest friends, Saori Kaneyoshi, and went from a band they sometimes practiced at fellow bandmate Jirou's home to a professional career. Taro introduced Kyo to his group of friends (Saori, Jirou, and Anya) when he found out she was skilled in music. Together, all five of them create the Strife Corps. They see each other through both the best and the worst moments of each other's lives, always willing to lend an ear or a fist to the cause if it means helping someone they hold dear.
