A himbo a heart, Taro is always up to various ridiculous shenanigans (both innocuous and criminal) that sometimes end with him in trouble with the law. His older brother, Miho, is always there to bail him out of said scenarios with his seemingly endless wealth and more than a few harsh, volatile words. This never stops Taro from continuing to commit petty crimes, usually with similarly troubled youth or even the Yakuza if he can garner their attention. More than anything else, Taro is a sad, desperate guy looking for connection, and he's keen it find it in anyone who will have him.

Taro spends half his time goofing around in his bedroom, talking to his friends online, and smoking incredible amounts of pot that he grows on his balcony. His view of normal day-to-day life is skewed by the insane amount of wealth he was raised with. For Taro, life has no real consequence — except when it does.

Trivia

  • Taro dropped out of high school after years of skipping and bad grades. He never got the help he needed for it, and thus never put effort into it.
  • Taro is growing oodles of pot on the balcony of his room in a high-rise apartment. He considers them his children and are the only thing he looks after or does with any real consistency.
  • Taro is very good with his hands. He loves creating, taking things apart, putting them back together, and fixing anything he can get his hands on. He'd be a good mechanic, plumber, or carpenter.
  • Taro collects rain water from the balcony of his apartment to drink. He swears it tastes better than anything bottled or from the tap.
  • Taro has poor hygiene. Not only are his shower habits questionable, but he's often covered in Cheetos dust (as is his phone!).
  • Taro has never used a microwave before. He's never eaten leftovers, but instead wastes all the food he doesn't finish eating by tossing it into the trash. This stupid, ridiculous boy doesn't know how to use a microwave!

Life History

During his earliest years, Taro lived with his parents. They were abusive and hateful, neglecting him at the best of times and intentionally starving him at the worst. While his mother never laid a hand on him, she was complicit in his abuse by never seeking to stop it. She spent most of her days drinking booze and half-heartedly keeping him alive. Taro's father was had a penchant for violence and gambling, the police were regularly called a few times a month due to domestic charges. It was as CPS began to get involved that his older brother, Miho, swooped into his life and plucked him from his parents.

Despite being only moderately less abusive than their parents, Miho plied Taro with everything he could want materialistically. It couldn't be more obvious that Miho wanted little to do with him, but despite his dislike of children, he was always there for Taro when he needed him. From illness to school fights, Miho was an uncompromising presence in Taro's life, advocating on his behalf despite his inability to see the best in Taro. He vies for Miho's attention and approval more than anyone else in his life, often finding neither.

Thanks to Miho's abilities as both an excellent stockbroker and his less legal activities, he and Taro have the privileges afforded by wealth and status. Taro barely remembers his earliest years with his parents, and thus most of his life has been one of entitlement as a trust fund kid. He receives an allowance from Miho, a stipend, of $5,000 a month, and he spends his money recklessly — both on himself, and his friends. All a friend need do is ask, and he'll drop obscene amounts of wealth on them at any given time. It's lucky for him that his friends don't take advantage of this generosity unless they absolutely need it.

Taro's a rebellious kid, often stealing from stores and acting out for attention since he isn't getting it at home. Miho's status and wealth often meant that Taro was alone for most of his youth, all potential friends either intimidated by Miho or blatantly scared away by his interference. It wasn't until Taro discovered gangs that everything seemed to click into place for him. They were willing to associate with Taro despite Miho's threats, and soon Taro was skipping school in favor of his first ever "friends".

Taro drops out of high school during his last year. Miho is absolutely irate about it, but no amount of convincing or threatening can convince Taro to come back. Trying to force him only results in Taro attempting to get himself expelled or simply skipping out early in the school day after he's been dropped off. Eventually, Miho resigns himself to it and accepts it for what it is — Taro lacking a thirst for knowledge or even idle curiosity; he doesn't make the connection that it's his own fault for the way he raised Taro. He never learns Taro's despair in trying his hardest and finding it still not good enough.

It comes as no surprise when Taro is eventually caught for his petty crimes, and arrested. Miho is called, and he uses his status and wealth to get Taro would with little to no consequence. Miho's fury devolves into a physical altercation each time it happens, and Taro grows to expect it, to try harder not to get caught. He sells drugs on the side, making money he doesn't need for the fun of it. Taro attempts to find his people in the gangs and yakuza he pursues, but instead he finds them in the form of a band named Caustic Plague. He jams on the bass guitar as they play, and it's there that he meets his future girlfriend, Kyo.
